Teaching/Tutoring Experience: 2008-2009 Percussion Instructor at Bingham High School -taught and instructed groups of up to 15 students in percussion technique and performance as part of the marching band 2010-2011 Literacy Tutoring Coordinator at Traverse Mountain Elementary through Americorps Program -tutored individuals in literacy using the STAR program as well as coordinated class tutoring programs 2011-2012 Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in northern Argentina -shared and taught the basic principals of Christianity and the LDS Religion 2014 Technician for Observation and Assessment Facility of Nebo School District -assisted, substituted, and worked individually with at-risk students who were court-ordered to remain on lock-down at our facility 2014-2015 Teacher's Aide-Photography at Brigham Young University -worked with students in darkroom usage, photography skills, and equipment check-out and use RELIGION: I also have done a decent amount of study on religious beliefs, particularly Indian belief systems and religions (Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, etc.) as I spent a semester doing research in southern India. SPANISH and LANGUAGES: Because of my time in Argentina, I became proficient in the Spanish language and passed the University Spanish Proficiency test with straight A's--resulting in 19 credits of A's in Spanish on my college transcript. Apart from Spanish, I have studied some Hindi as well as Telugu. I pick up languages fast and can learn and teach them with clarity. ART and PHOTOGRAPHY: I also have experience with Art History and proficient experience with photography (especially film photography, darkroom work, and alternative processes as well as digital photography--with a large emphasis on fine art and documentary and also some commercial experience) through my college degree and personal experience. MATH AND ENGLISH: Although I was not required to take any math classes after high school due to my major and my ACT math score, I have always been proficient in beginning-intermediate math skills. I have also always been proficient in english and writing, as well as spelling. My time as a literacy tutor and coordinator gave me experience in helping young readers in bettering their reading skills. PIANO and MUSIC: I was involved in Percussion technique and performance for 8 years and became extremely proficient particularly in mallet and keyboard percussion, including Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, and other mallet percussion. I have also played the piano for nearly 20 years and have some informal experience teaching. *I do not have sufficient experience playing or teaching drumset, drumline, or snare drum.* SPECIAL CASES or SPECIAL EDUCATION: My time working with at-risk students, as well as plenty of life experience, has given me a special ability to work with students that have mild-moderate learning or behavioral disabilities. I have a lot of patience and am willing to work with students who really struggle to learn or to be motivated to learn and work hard in school.
