I am a lifelong learner, and I enjoy gaining new skills. Since graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor's in journalism, I have taught and coached a number of kids in videography, writing, and photography. My passion to see a young person reach his or her potential motivates me. I have also helped many coworkers and friends improve their essays and coached writers in my role as editor of a yearbook. Many of the writers earned awards.I rely on my experiences in attaining my journalism degree, where writing, editing, rewriting - and writing some more - was common. Through this process my writing skills developed and improved. In fact, I entered a feature article in a Gold Circle writing contest, and I took top honors. As a tutor, I can help your child strengthen their abilities to brainstorm, outline, write, and redraft. Additionally, I am proficient in the art of photography, and I can improve a student's photography skills. This includes improvement in control of the camera, doing shot set ups, and photo editing. I have found that combining hands-on activity with verbal instructions works best. I can also offer insight on what photography equipment is best based on the student's situation. I am excited about the opportunity to work with your child to help them learn - and to do so in a fun way.
