I have six years of experience in tutoring. My past students have been accepted to these schools:
UC Berkeley, OU, UCLA, NYU--the list goes on.
My specialty is in the ACT, as I have extensive experience both studying for and tutoring in it. I am currently writing a study guide for the ACT for students wishing to make drastic improvements within a short amount of time, as many test preps are far too exhaustive for students to be engaged.
My most recent student was able to increase his score on the ACT from a 24 to 30 upon taking it twice.
I am currently working with a couple of juniors in preparation for the PSAT/NMSQT exam.
HobbiesI enjoy running, reading, writing, playing basketball, playing guitar, and listening to music.
I also make time to volunteer at the regional food bank of Oklahoma.
I am currently in the process of writing an ACT test prep guide, as I have found through experience that students do not want to look through thick guides, and want fast results, as I know from experience how busy high schools can be with extracurriculars and a boatload of homework. Of course, as with anything, there are no shortcuts in life, but I believe that there is a huge need for a revamp in how test prep guides should cater their material. There is no passion that underlies their content and they churn the same recycled content, only to make slight alterations with each updated version.
My aim is to create content that condenses information and organizes them in a way that is palatable to the average high school student and guarantees results while showing them that learning can be fun.
I am developing a specialized approach to each section within the ACT, as each section possesses its own unique set of challenges. This process is truly a challenge and is a work in progress but I believe in the necessity of creating a great product that will resonate with high school students, as I think about how much I struggled in high school while studying for the standardized tests.
My current career plan aside from launching a full-scale ACT prep business is to become an actuary for which I am currently studying to pass a series of exams to ultimately become certified.
It has become increasingly difficult to parcel out time for my various hobbies and passions, but I believe in the importance of being well-rounded, so I try to be as proactive as possible in my creative and professional endeavors.
All in all, I try to instill this spirit in my students; though we all possess our own unique blend of talents and interests, we all share in the fact that we are human beings, and that alone should be enough to overcome adversity and keep pushing past self imposed limits on excellence. I truly believe that one's potential is limitless and that through meaningful, hard work, one can achieve anything.
